Recently I presented the project “Exploring Network Dynamics in Complex Fields of Science: Investigator Networks in Clinical Trials” at the 17th Conference of the International Joseph A. Schumpeter Society. The conference was held at Seoul National University. The paper is a joint research project with Maureen McKelvey (University of Gothenburg) and Pablo D’Este (INGENIO). Focusing on collaborative relations among investigators in phase 2 clinical trials, we explore whether the mechanisms of preferential attachment, homophily or multi-connectivity drive the endogenous formation of ties to investigators with valuable knowledge in basic and clinical research.
